I see a lot of people talking about Logos, but almost no one mentions this 👇

”Don’t take your logos too seriously”.

Now I understand Logos are an essential component of any brand’s identity and it serves as a visual representation of its values, mission, and personality.

But if you’re giving too much time to it, it might not be worth it in the early phases of the business. You might be going down the deep rabbit hole of perfectionism.

Here are my 3 reasons why I feel giving too much time on a logo is not worth it:

1️⃣ Logos are not the only thing that defines a brand’s identity.

Focus on the perfect product that solves the user’s problem. A logo is only worth it when the attached services are able to meet the expectations and wow the users.

2️⃣ Logos can be subject to interpretation:

A logo means different things to the company and to the customers. Over-analyzing the logo can lead to unnecessary confusion and miscommunication.

3️⃣ Logos can change over time.

As the company evolves, it changes its logo to keep up with the changing values, mission, and environment. Being too serious about the logo can lead to a challenge in changing it (which might be a necessary thing to do).

👉 So what should you do while making a logo?

[ “ Have fun, check if it’s aesthetic & go with your gut. “ ]

Here’s an example to support my views:

Remember VLC Media Player and their orange traffic cone logo?

The software was originally created by the students of a graduate school at Paris. And the iconic VLC emblem (the cone) is a tribute to the group of students, as they had a traffic cone collection in their lab.

It was a funny story about one of the guys coming back from the party and taking the traffic cone from the road. That was the beginning of the collection.

The logo doesn’t have any hidden meaning in it. In short, they were just having FUN.

What are your thoughts on it? Are you starting a business and stuck with your logo, share them below would love to see them 💬
